Vladimir ANDROPOV
Music Director

Vladimir Andropov (born in 1946) was graduated from the Conservatory in Byelorussia (Opera-Symphonic conduction class) in 1974.
For some years he worked as a conductor of the Orchestra of the Byelorussian Radio and Television, of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Byelorussia. At the same time he studied in the post-graduate studentship of the Byelorussia Conservatory under the guidance of Professor Fuat Mansurov.
In spring of 1978 the musician was invited to the Bolshoi Theater of Russia. Soon after that he made his debut as a conductor of M. Ravel’s opera “Spanish Hour”. Revel’s music, full of lightness and wit, was read by Andropov with fine feeling and easiness.
At the end of 1981 he had a great success after the performance with the Symphony Orchestra of Leningrad Philharmonic Society, the honored collective of the Republic, being in Leningrad.
The conductor’s technique is as masterly as possible; his gesture is accurate, elastic and light, sometimes expressive. His concert programs are noted by skill, deep perception of the classic and modern music, fresh music images.
The repertoire of V. Andropov consists of compositions of the Russian and foreign classical music, modern, soviet composers. Among them are symphonic, vocal and instrumental compositions of P. Tchaikovsky, S. Rahmaninov, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, D. Verdi, Sh. Guno, P. Hindemit, A. Hachaturian, G. Sviridov, R. Shedrin and many others.
He went on tour with the Bolshoi to Germany, United States, Bulgaria and Romania.
Andrei VALENTY
Bass

In 1992, he completed his studies with distinction at the Chernigov L.N. Revutzsky Music College (trumpet class). From 1992-1996, he studied at the Ukrainian State M.P. Dragomanov Pedagogic University (faculty of music and artistic culture, singing teacher Prof. Vladimir Turets) in Kiev. At the same time, he studied singing with Lyubov Kryzhanovskaya, teacher at the Kiev State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. In 1996, he enrolled at the Saint-Peterburg State N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in Professor Georgy Seleznev’s class. In 2001, he completed his studies and in 2003, his post-graduate studies (Professor Georgy Seleznev) at the Conservatoire. In 2001, he participated in Vladimir Atlantov’s master-classes.
From 1993-1996, he was soloist in the boys’ choir at the Kiev special music boarding school for gifted children attached to the Kiev Conservatoire, and with the choir he appeared in France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Holland and Hungary. From 1997, as a second-year student, he began to participate in performances given by the Saint-Petersburg Conservatoire State Theatre of Opera and Ballet for which company, in the course of 5 years, he sang the following roles: Bertrand, King Rene (Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Sobakin (Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride), The Old Gypsy (Rakhmaninov's Aleko), Mephistopheles (Faust).
In 2005, he made his Bolshoi Theatre debut in part of Mussorgsky (Desyatnikov’s The Children of Rosenthal).
His solo disc, Popular Romances and Songs, recorded with the National Academic N.P. Osipov Orchestra of Folk Instruments, conductor Nikolai Kalinin.
Irina SAMOYLOVA
Soprano

Irina Samoylova was born in Moscow. She graduated from the Moscow Shnitke Music College (as a choral conductor and a singer) and the Gnessin’s Academy of Music as a singer. From 1993 to 1999 she studied solo singing with Prof. G. Oleinichenko at the Gnessins Academy of Music.
In 1996 Irina Samoylova has got a grant of the programme "New Voices". In 1998 Irina became the Grand Prix winner both of the VI National Competition "Bello Voce" and of XXV International Singing Competition "Luis Sigall" in Chile.
In 1999 Ms. Samoylova took part in the IV International St. Petersburg Festival "Musical Olympus" with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and in the XXXI International Festival in Chile (Frutiliar). The same year she performed two concerts with a symphony orchestra in Santiago. In 2000 she got the First Prize of the II International Competition "Tomaz Alkaide" in Portugal. She also became a prize-winner of operetta competition “Belvedere”.
In 2001 she joined a probation group at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia and in 2002 became a soloist. In 2003 she debuted as Norina in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" in Helikon-Opera. Since April of 2005 Irina works in Helikon-Opera. In August 2005 she performed parts of Mme Cortese and Comtessa Folleville in Rossini’s "Il viaggio a Reims" at International Rossini's Opera Festival in Pesaro (Italy).
In 2006 she performed as Xenia in Moussorgsky's "Boris Godunov" in Brussels, Belgium, performed as Countess Adele in "Le Comte Ory" by G. Rossini at Mozart Opera Festival in La Coruna (Spain). The same year for the first time in Russia she performed as Fiorilla from "Il Turco in Italia" by G. Rossini in Big Hall of Moscow's Conservatory together with Philharmonic symphonic orchestra under Vladimir Ponkin's conduction.
In 2007 she performed Marfa in "The Tsar's Bride" by N. Rimsky-Korsakov. (Teatro Bellini, Catania - Spain).
In 2008 she performed Cleone part in Rossini’s “Hermiona” at G. Rossini festival in Pesaro. The same year she performed “The Snow Maiden” part in “The Snow Maiden” by N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov at Wexford opera festival (Ireland). Conductor Dmitry Yurovsky.
Marina ANDREYEVA
Soprano

The Russia-born soprano Marina Àndreeva is promising young singer whose career is rapidly on upraise. Her striking voice boasts beautiful color and timbre.
Acclaimed as an extraordinary actress, she has appeared on stage, in concert and on radio and TV in a great variety of roles encompassing the opera repertoire, contemporary works and musical theater. M. Andreeva is currently engaged at the Moscow State Helicon Opera and is also a soloist of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic Society. Marina Andreeva graduated from the Russian Gnessin’s Academy of Music in Moscow. She then studied for one year at the Vienna Opera House, the Champs Elysees Hall in Paris and the Berlioz Music Center in Montpelier, which earned her the praise and respect of accomplished music professionals and audience alike. In March, 2000, Mrs. Andreeva appeared at the Beiteddine Festival in Lebanon, and in July she was invited by Radio France to participate in the Montpelier Music Festival. Next summer Marina Andreeva also gave a triumphant performance together with maestro Mstislav Rostropovich at the Evian Music Festival in France. According to French critics, Mrs. Andreeva is a vivacious and radiant soprano with Russian flair and international appeal.
Her vast repertoire, which continues to grow throughout her career, includes compositions by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Stravinsky, Pergolesi, Rimsky-Korsakov and others. It includes operatic arias, chamber vocal music, art and folk songs, compositions for voice and instrumental accompaniment and arias from operettas. M. Andreeva has recently sung the roles of Tatyana and Maria in Tchaikovsky’s Eugeny Onegin and Mazepa, Marfa and the Shemakhan Queen in Rymsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride and Le Coq d’Or, Olympia in Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffmann at Helicon Opera, Lulu in Berg’s Lulu.
Sergei LUKIN
Domra

Sergei Lukin is acclaimed worldwide as one of the leading domra soloists performing today. He is the principal soloist and concertmaster of the legendary Osipov Balalaika Orchestra of Moscow and has received his nation’s highest artistic title — “National Artist of Russia.”
Born in Voronezh, Russia, Lukin began playing the domra at the age of seven. After first studying under Valentina Narolina and Vasili Zubchenko, he completed his musical education at Moscow’s prestigious Gnessin Institute under the tutelage of Vyacheslav Kruglov. He joined the Osipov Balalaika Orchestra in 1980.
Mr. Lukin has performed in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, and other famous venues in France, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Italy, and Japan, where he has often been the featured soloist in world premieres of works by leading contemporary composers.
Sergei Lukin is also a professor of domra performance at Moscow’s Schnittke Academy of Music. As a composer, he has made substantial contributions to the repertoire for his instrument, and his seminars and master classes are eagerly attended by domra enthusiasts around the world.
Liubov MURAVYOVA
Ringing Lyre

Prize-winner at International and All-Russian Competitions, Graduated from Moscow State Schnittke Institute in 1997 and Moscow State Culture and Arts Institute in 2004. Member of The Osipov Balalaika Orchestra since 1997.
Concert repertoire of Liubov Mouravyova includes works for Ringing Lyre solo, Ringing Lyre and symphony, chamber and folk instruments orchestras, chamber works. Her style is very individual; it combines virtuoso technique and original performing styles. Ms. Muravyova regularly tours Russia and many Western countries.
Danil STADNYUK
Bayan

The creative path of Danil Stadnyuk started in Rostov County where he successfully graduated from the Rostov School of Arts in class of bayan.
In the year of 2003, Danil becomes the student of the Russian Academy of Music (RAM) named after the Gnesins, being admitted into the class of People’s Artist of Russia with Professor V. A. Semenov. During the years of study at RAM named after the Gnesins, Danil manifested himself as a strikingly talented performer, which was confirmed with the laureate titles of various international competitions of bayan performers.
Especially successful for the young bayanist became the international contest in the city of Beijing where Danil won the Grand Prix of the contest. In May of 2008, Danil becomes the artist of the The Osipov Balalaika Orchestra.
